Our good friend Tony Wright (aka. VerseChorusVerse) has always been a great supporter of First Fortnight and has done great work for us not only by performing at our events, but by being an ambassador for the project. He has spoken on our behalf, appeared in our promo videos, played numerous times on radio and in The Workman’s Club and in The Button Factory, and generally just been an inspirational person to have helping us along the way.
We always knew Tony would go to great lengths to help us in whatever way he could, but that didn’t change the fact that we were absolutely bowled over when the phone rang a couple of months ago and he told us his latest plan. “I want to record an album of punk covers and give you guys half the proceeds.” Ok, so we are paraphrasing there, but that was the jist of it. Obviously we loved the idea, and were unbelievably honoured that Tony had chosen us (as well as Action Cancer) to support with the proceeds.
Over the next few weeks Tony worked away on the EP and the other day we finally got to hear the finished product, and it is fantastic! It’s made up of 6 stripped back acoustic covers of classic punk songs that inspired him to get involved music, and it is well worth a listen!
You can buy the EP for as little as 50p per track, or you can pay as much as you like for it. Every penny is split between First Fortnight and Action Cancer, and every penny is very much appreciated. We hope you enjoy this as much as we did…
