Eva O’Connor is an award winning playwright and actress. Her play Overshadowed runs in the Project Arts Centre from 6 – 9 January as part of First Fortnight.
Here she picks the four songs that she would share at our Co-Motion event.
DJ Fresh – Golddust
Such an uplifting, spirit-raising tune. The video is class. It features loads of people skipping in a playground, so when ever I hear it it makes me want to leap around the place.
Guy J – Lamur (Henry Saiz remix)
Quite simply, a banging tune. Got my through my dissertation at university
Sylvan Esso – Coffee
I was properly addicted to this song for ages. It’s is about being in love with someone new but essentially doing exactly the same stuff you used to do with the last person. It makes me think it doesn’t really matter who you love as long as you love someone (which is useful if you’re heart broken).
Young Fathers – Shame
I love this tune. It’s got so much energy in a really cathartic and angry way. Young Fathers are an amazing group of Scottish lads from Edinburgh, who hardly ever give interviews because they hate the media.
Our unique event – Co-Motion, a musical walking experience – takes place on Sunday, January 3 in the National Botanic Gardens in Glassnevin at 2pm and on January 10 at the same time in St Stephen’s Green.
We’re asking people to come armed with their four-song playlist of “songs that get them through”, a set of earphones and a listening device (phone, ipod, etc). They’ll then be paired up with another randomly selected participant.
While the idea of putting a playlist together is pretty straight forward, the idea of bringing that playlist along to a specific location, pairing up with a like-minded stranger and walking around a park with them as you play your playlist for them while they then play theirs for you, is probably something many of us have never done before.
