First Fortnight’s eclectic mix of music, poetry and spoken word comes to Cork.
Cork electro three-piece Wiggle came together in Cork at the turn of the century playing their very own unique music which could be described as dub jamtronica. Ever since Wiggle first started playing their legendary live shows no two gigs have been the same, making each performance a very special event not to be missed! Also on the line up is poet Tony Walsh, who many will know for his inspiring poem This is the Place which he performed following last May’s Manchester Arena bomb attack.
Míde Houlihan is a Clonakilty bred singer songwriter, who started gigging as a solo act in late 2011. Her song ‘Nuts and Bolts’ won the IMRO Christie Hennessy Songwriting award in 2015 and in 2017 Mide was chosen as one of 12 Irish artists to attend the first ever European Folk Alliance International Conference in West Cork. Another favourite will be performing is Eoin O Neill who grew up in Clonakilty within a family passionate about music. This has given him a holistic approach to music which has been one of the major influences on his song writing.
Moze M. Jacobs performs her poetry live against a backdrop of electro-acoustic soundscapes. The soundscapes are mysterious, add depth to the poetry, and provide it with a cinematic quality. The poems (and one brief story) spring from the different mental and emotional landscapes contained within a single individual aka personal experience.
Stephen James Smith, renowned Wordsmith and longtime First Fortnight collaborator will be the evening’s MC.
