With the days getting colder and Christmas just around the corner, we are getting closer and closer to First Fortnight Festival 2021! After a long, hard year for so many, we’re looking forward to starting 2021 with a bang and we hope you are too!

For the next few weeks we will be posting our "Festival Unpacked", highlighting parts of the festival we are particularly excited about. This week we want to tell you about some of our workshops and our brand new prints!

We want to tell you about some of the workshops we have planned for this year's festival. It is important to us that the festival isn't just about appreciating art, but creating art yourself!

*Materials for all workshops will be posted out in advance so make sure to register early! All workshops are open to beginners.*

Origami: Artist Rebecca Lyons will run 2 online oragami workshops for young people (ages 6-24) inspired by the Story of Sadako Sasaki and the 1,000 Crane Birds.

Wire sculpture: Glenn Gibson will be leading 3 workshops on wire sculpture, demonstrating how to make a tree, then bring you step by step through the process.

Hand weaving: Naoimh Larkin will teach us the basics of weaving on a hand-held frame loom, the history of the art form, and about the properties of different yarns and fibres.

And last but not least... Words From The Wise Ones Workshop: This is a writing workshop that will focus on the power of words. A range of writing prompts will be used in the workshop to spark ideas, to explore how writing can captivate and transform our imaginations as well as help to be supportive in managing our mental health.

This is only a taste of the workshops we have on offer this year! Be sure to have a look around our programme of events or our website for more.

We Are Selling Prints!

Have you been thinking about donating to First Fortnight? Well it comes with perks! Donate €30 (or more) and you will receive one of our gorgeous prints! Donated to us by two of our favourite Irish street artists Solus and ADW, we think they are stunning and could make great Christmas presents!
