In recent decades developments in technology have changed how we live our lives, impacting almost every aspect of modern living in a relatively short period of time. Use of technologies, such as the internet, Apps and social media are often blamed for an increase in mental health issues.
Yet, technology is also presented as key to the treatment of mental health issues, with an increase in internet-based delivered interventions. In this panel discussion with guest speakers from key areas, such as research; app development as well as mental health professionals, we will explore this dilemma and invite audience members to participate in the discussion.
This panel discussion will be followed by two sessions;
The first will look at the area of ‘Serious Gaming’ (games designed for a primary purpose other than pure entertainment) in the field of mental health.
The second will ask the question: How can technology be used to challenge stigma and prejudice around mental health?
